My name is Roubina and I’m a graphic designer and art director! My journey with graphic design began back in high school, where I would pay more attention to the layout in my textbooks as opposed to science class.
I studied graphic design at Seneca College of Applied Arts and Technology – School of Communication Arts, at the York University campus, completing a 3-year program and earning an advanced diploma with honours. Shortly after my last semester I started an internship at a graphic design studio and once the 2 months were done, I decided to go back to Seneca for Advertising and Marketing for a 2 year Creative Advertising Program. There, I fell in love with creating ad campaigns and seeing them all come together. As soon as I graduated, I landed an internship right away at an advertising agency downtown Toronto. After months of working there, the position became a permanent one for the next 3 years. Here, I learned how to actually create campaigns, starting from concept to completion and was lead designer on magazine advertisements, b2b advertisements and online components.
My background as an art director in an advertising agency trained me to be a hard worker, a multi-tasker, and being able to take projects from concept to completion on a tight deadline. I pride myself in being a diligent and smart worker, who is detail-oriented and able to communicate ideas, concerns and challenge ideas where necessary. I also find it important to state that I take constructive criticism well and am a team player.
